The Challenge

Lenovo needed a brand film that could connect with people who do not follow the normal path.

The challenge was to position the brand around creativity, individuality, and unconventional thinking in a way that felt human and inspiring.

The campaign needed to show that progress often comes from people who think differently, act differently, and refuse to fit into the expected mold.

The Objective

The main objective was awareness.

The film needed to build Lenovo’s brand relevance with a younger, creative, and tech-driven audience by celebrating the value of being different.

The Manifesto Idea

The idea was built around one strong statement:

Weird is good.

The film shows people, moments, and references that challenge the idea of “normal.”

It connects artists, inventors, athletes, creators, rebels, and everyday people who are brave enough to do things differently.

The message is simple:

The people who look weird today are often the ones who move the world forward tomorrow.

My Role

I was involved in the creative development of the manifesto.

My work contributed to shaping the campaign idea, narrative direction, emotional structure, and final communication flow.

The goal was to make the film feel inspiring, fast, and culturally relevant while keeping the message strongly connected to Lenovo’s challenger spirit.

Creative Direction

The film used a fast-cut montage style.

It mixed archival references, lifestyle moments, sports, invention, art, technology, and youth culture to create a sense of energy and momentum.

The creative direction focused on:

  • Unconventional personalities
  • Fast visual rhythm
  • Cultural references
  • Creative rebellion
  • Human curiosity
  • Extreme sports and invention
  • A strong final campaign line

The visual language made the film feel dynamic, restless, and full of ideas.

Storytelling Structure

The film follows a clear manifesto structure.

1. The Meaning of Weird

The opening challenges the idea of normal.

It suggests that people who seem strange are often the ones who see the world differently.

2. The Proof

The middle of the film shows examples of people pushing limits.

Artists create. Athletes take risks. Inventors build. Young people explore. The story keeps showing that difference creates progress.

3. The Invitation

The ending turns the idea into a call to action:

Weird is good. Be #GoodWeird.

This makes the manifesto feel like an invitation to the audience, not only a brand statement.

Communication Strategy

The strategy was to make Lenovo stand for the people who create change.

Instead of focusing only on devices or specifications, the film focused on mindset.

This helped the brand connect with people who use technology to create, experiment, learn, and challenge convention.

The campaign positioned Lenovo as a brand for people who do not just consume technology.

They use it to do something different.

Brand Role

Lenovo was positioned as a brand that supports original thinking.

The campaign connected Lenovo with:

  • Creativity
  • Innovation
  • Individuality
  • Experimentation
  • Youth culture
  • Challenger energy
  • Technology with purpose

This helped the brand feel more emotional, expressive, and culturally relevant.

The Outcome

The final output was a 90-second manifesto film built around the #GoodWeird platform.

It gave Lenovo a clear brand message that could work across digital film, social media, and campaign communication.

The film turned “weird” from an insult into a badge of creativity and progress.

Why This Project Matters

This project shows how a technology brand can build meaning beyond product features.

The manifesto used human behavior, culture, and attitude to make Lenovo feel like a brand for people who think differently.

It made the brand idea simple, memorable, and easy to share.
