The Challenge
MADCOM needed an agency ad that could cut through the noise and grab client attention quickly.
The challenge was simple:
How do you make a decision-maker stop, read, and remember an agency message?
Most agency ads promise creativity, results, and big ideas. This campaign took the opposite direction by opening with a provocative truth about advertising.
The Objective
The objective was awareness and client attention.
The campaign needed to make MADCOM stand out, create curiosity, and position the agency as honest, sharp, and confident in its ability to make people pay attention.
The Campaign Idea
The idea was built around the headline:
We’re Liars!
The message challenged the advertising industry directly.
It admitted that advertising often exaggerates, beautifies, and sells stories. Then it turned that admission into a proof point.
The campaign made one clear argument:
If this ad can make you stop and read, imagine what MADCOM can do for your brand.
My Role
I was involved in the creative development of the campaign.
My work focused on shaping the campaign idea, copy direction, visual hierarchy, and communication flow across print, Meta, and email marketing.
The goal was to create an agency ad that felt brave, honest, and impossible to ignore.
Creative Direction
The creative direction used a minimal layout with heavy emphasis on typography.
The design system focused on:
- A provocative headline
- Strong use of white space
- Long-form copy that rewards attention
- Simple visual hierarchy
- A direct agency call to action
- A clean layout that made the message feel serious and confident
The large “LIARS” typography acted as the visual hook, while the body copy carried the persuasion.
Communication Strategy
The strategy was to use honesty as the disruption.
Instead of making another polished agency promise, the campaign exposed how advertising works.
It spoke directly to clients who are tired of generic claims and wanted an agency that understands attention.
The message was designed to create a reaction first, then turn that reaction into interest.
Channel Execution
Print was the hero format.
The long-copy layout gave the reader a reason to stay with the ad and rewarded attention with a strong closing argument.
Meta
For Meta, the campaign could be adapted into shorter versions using the headline as the main stopping device.
The goal was to create curiosity and push users to read more or engage with the agency.
Email Marketing
For email, the provocative subject line and direct body copy made the campaign suitable for client outreach.
The same idea could be used as a lead-in to introduce MADCOM’s creative thinking and services.
Brand Role
MADCOM was positioned as an agency that understands how attention works.
The campaign connected the agency with:
- Bold thinking
- Strategic honesty
- Creative confidence
- Strong copywriting
- Attention-led communication
This helped separate MADCOM from agencies using safe and predictable self-promotion.
The Outcome
The final campaign delivered a strong agency self-promotion piece that could work across print, Meta, and email marketing.
It gave MADCOM a memorable communication asset built around a simple but risky idea.
The result was an ad designed to stop people, challenge them, and make them think about the agency differently.
Why This Project Matters
This project shows how honesty can become a creative weapon.
The campaign did not hide behind standard agency promises.
It used provocation, copywriting, and restraint to make the agency message more powerful.
